Syrco Bakker was blessed with Two Knives at The Best Chef Awards 2024
The latest accolade won by Dutch-Indonesian chef Syrco Bakker is a testament to his world-class culinary expertise, adding to the list of Syrco BASÈ’s achievements this year.
Syrco BASÈ, has received yet another accolade. Following bar manager I Putu Aris Sanjaya Putra’s achievement in the Diageo World Class Global Bartender 2024, where he a second-place finish, Syrco Bakker himself was recently awarded Two Knives at The Best Chef Awards 2024.
The Best Chef Awards was incepted in 2017 and has since served as an avenue for the global culinary community to learn anxd nurture connections with one another. Its Knife recognition system, however, was introduced this year as a tribute to the best chefs and their contributions to the culinary world. The One Knife recognition is awarded for notable contributions, while Two and Three Knives represent world-class expertise and culinary mastery, respectively.
Thanks to his exceptional know-how and core values of Traceability, Nature, and Transparency, Bakker was recognised with Two Knives. The recognition coincided with his venture into the United Arab Emirates, where he leads the team of Farmhouse by Syrco at The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert. Meanwhile, in Bali, Syrco BASÈ introduced a new tagline, “Beyond Dining,” reasserting its commitment to presenting meaningful, one-of-a-kind gastronomic experiences.
“Receiving this recognition from The Best Chef Awards is a great honour,” Chef Bakker said. “It underscores the importance of our mission at Syrco BASÈ and beyond to cultivate a fine dining experience that respects every aspect of our craft, from the origins of each ingredient to the impact we have on the communities around us. I’m immensely proud of our team and excited to continue this journey of culinary discovery and innovation.”
This latest accomplishment added to the list of achievements that the restaurant and Chef Bakker himself have accumulated. Simultaneously, it has turned the spotlight on Indonesia as one of the prominent culinary destinations in Southeast Asia.
